Frequency of Servicing
Frequency of servicing very much depends on the type of trailer and frequency of usage, but an outline guide can be found below:
Inspection: –
- Daily or before each journey – certain checks are essential for safety. These are the responsibility of the trailer operator.
- After the first 600 miles (1000 km) – essential for new trailers or if new brake linings and/or bowden cables are fitted.
Trailer Service: –
- Every 3000 miles (5000 km) or three months (whichever comes first).
For commercial / industrial trailers based on “intensive” usage. Also includes boat trailers that are immersed in water. - Every 6000 miles (10,000kms) or 6 monthly (whichever comes first).
For commercial / industrial trailers based on “average” use. - Every 6000 miles (10,000kms) or annually (whichever comes first).
For caravans and leisure trailers.
