Family

My wife, Christine and I married in 2006 and we have four children, three boys and a girl. We live in Burton-on-Trent, Staffs where Christine owns a Day Care Nursery and Pre-school.

Hobbies

Ever since England won the World Cup in 1966 I have loved football and for over 30 years I had a season ticket at Liverpool FC as well as playing Sunday League until my late 30s. I also became a reasonably proficient skier, skiing in many resorts across Europe as well as the USA and Canada. These days I watch my two younger boys play football and assist my eldest boy in coaching an Under 11 side in the local Junior Football League.

Work History

After three years in injection moulding, in which I trained as a tool-setter / supervisor, I joined Bingley company H&K Bradley in 1979 as a despatch clerk, transferred to sales in 1981 and rose through the ranks to become Sales Director in 1988, helping to develop the company’s sales after the introduction of European legislation 71/320 in 1982/3. In 1993 I moved to Burton-on-Trent and joined Knott (UK) Ltd, becoming Sales Director in 1994 and Joint Managing Director in 1999. By the time of my departure in 2016 we had increased sales 11 fold and become UK market leader in the industry.

Company

In January 2017 I was delighted to join Kartt Ltd, suppliers of the prestigious Kartt Orange Premium jockey wheel brand, as Head of Sales and Marketing.

NTTA

I started to attend meetings of this association in the mid 1980s, during my time at Bradley, when it was called the Association of Trailer Manufacturers. Shortly after the change of name to the NTTA I was invited to join the Council on which I served for around 20 years. In July 2012 I took over the Chairman’s role from Larry Lambert as he moved to Chief Executive Administrator and in the following 4 years we took the membership from 125 members to 250. Between us and with the support of the Council we were able to introduce a raft of tangible member benefits with the objective of covering each member’s annual subscription through these benefits. A big “thank you” to Larry for his exceptional hard work during that period. I had a short break in 2016 but re-joined the Council in early 2017.
